Phu Bia Mining Limited is a Lao-registered company, 90 per cent owned by PanAust, an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company, with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.

Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Team Leader – UG. The UG Maintenance Technician – Auto Electrical is responsible for performing electrical diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on underground mobile mining equipment to ensure optimal equipment performance and safety.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform diagnostics, electrical fault finding, repairs, and preventive maintenance on underground mobile equipment 
• Carry out auto electrical troubleshooting on control systems, wiring harnesses, sensors, and electrical components 
• Repair and replace electrical and electronic components on underground drill and mobile fleet 
• Minimize equipment downtime through effective fault diagnosis and timely repairs 
• Ensure all work is completed safely in accordance with site procedures and standards 
• Work independently or under limited supervision when required 
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports 
• Report work progress and issues to the Team Leader/Supervisor

To be successful in this role, you will require:

• Trade qualification in Auto Electrical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) 
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in auto electrical maintenance on mobile or underground equipment 
• Experience with underground mining equipment is an advantage 
• Strong understanding of CANBUS systems, electrical schematics, and fault-finding techniques 
• High-voltage systems experience is an advantage 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
• Strong safety awareness, proactive mindset, and commitment to continuous improvement
