Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and our Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation in Laos are both delivering strong production and cost performances and are targeted to reach peak production over the next few years. In addition, the PanAust Group is progressing well in its Stage 1 Feasibility Study of the newly acquired Frieda River Copper Project in PNG

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.
Reporting to the Geology Team Leader, the key objective of the Grade Control Geological Technician at BHX is ensure all Grade control drill hole sampling and other sampling is carried out correctly according to the Geological procedures. A key focus for this role is to provide high quality samples absent of contamination to be delivered to the laboratory in a timely manner. Another key focus is to supervise pad construction activities to support grade control drilling activities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collect and record drill data, sample weights, rig time logs and sample IDS
- Ensure clear labelling of samples
- Liaise with drill offsiders with carrying out proper collection of grade control samples from RC drilling as per PBM procedure
- Prepare sample collection and samples bags
- Packing of samples (RC chips, Diamond Core or pulps) and preparing for sending or storage
- Liaise with drill offsides with carrying out proper collection of grade control samples from RC drilling as per PBM procedure
- Lead and manage core logging, core cutting, sampling and sample dispatches to the Laboratories
- Work with survey to ensure all holes are picked up in a timely manner
- Ensure all drill holes are clearly demarcated for back filling and track the compliance. Update the Supervisor if holes cannot be back filled due to hole collapse
- Assist the Geologist in mapping and logging
- Assist with data entry and computer data management when required
- Survey reference peg and laying out lines for drilling and other purposes
- Wash rock chips and prepare chip trays for geologists
- Grab sampling, Bulk density and/or hardness testing of rock samples
- In field spotter for drill pad construction works
- Assist in making Geological Plans and Maps
- Ensure drill priorities are followed based on the set plans and targets
- Act in a supervising capacity for team leader when required
- Carry out other task as determined by the Supervisor
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Diploma in Mining, Exploration, Prospecting, or a related field
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in Geology or a related discipline
- Competency in using office applications, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite
- Fundamental verbal and written communication skills in English
- Current driving licence
