Phu Bia Mining Limited is a Lao-registered company, 90 per cent owned by PanAust, an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company, with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.

Our modern mine camps provide great Lao, Asian and Western food, sport and recreational facilities and housekeeping services. Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.
Reporting to the Senior Processing Specialist, your key objectives are to ensure process personnel are properly trained and operate safely and efficiently in compliance with company standards and policies. The role is responsible for managing training programs, maintaining up-to-date operational documents and procedures, supporting compliance with ICMC requirements, and promoting safe work practices through workplace inspections and safety observations. It also supports production activities, including shutdown preparation and coordination with document control to maintain accurate and accessible records.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver training to process personnel as required.
- Assist Process crew issue permit to work and isolation during morning
- Develop new safe operating procedure and deliver associated training programmes, mainly new coming projects and classify improvement existing procedure up to date.
- Planning and schedule training Operational courses to operation team to ensure complete the course and recorded, update training matrix and update in Success factor to compliance PBM standard.
- Managing department MOC and update
- Participate provide information to Auditors during ICMC compliance audits and Gap analyses
- Participate on progress of process department incident investigation.
- Participate operation team preparation shutdown, IRS, PCB and general area cleaning.
- Managing and updating operation purchasing system PR, PO, SES and up to date.
- Daily tail line, process plant inspection to identify hazard, area improvement.
- Coordinate to PAA training, Mining training ensure processing staff training recorded and refresher are compliance to company standard.
- Acting supervisor or acting team leader where is absent onsite.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in mineral processing is preferred.
- At least two years of teaching experience is desirable.
- A qualification in Mineral Processing or English is required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC), SAP, and SuccessFactors systems would be an advantage.
