Phu Bia Mining Limited is a Lao-registered company, 90 per cent owned by PanAust, an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company, with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.

Reporting to the Senior Advisor Operations Improvement, you will play a key role to support the ongoing Operations Improvement program at our operations and support functions. You will assist in the delivery of safe, superior cost and production outcomes.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Demonstrating safety leadership and providing high quality HSEC contribution
  • Taking initiative and continuously searching for and implementing operational improvements across all aspects of operations justified by quality supporting analysis.
  • Organising and facilitating Lean, Management of Change, Asset and Production Management System training, and other workshops
  • Coaching Lean Leaders and Lean Specialists through improvement and MOC project delivery
  • Assisting Senior Advisors in the delivery of major improvement initiatives identified in the Operations Plan on a Page
  • Provide coaching and training to teams and individuals to create value within the Improvement Pipeline of projects and manage risks within Management of Change.
  • Responsible for Operations Improvement (OI) Value Pipeline, MOC, and PMS System governance.
  • Addressing any raised concerns from the users regarding to Value Pipeline, MOC and PMS system.
  • Lead the ongoing implementation of Lean at Phu Bia operations and, extend into support functions and business partners.
  • Provide support to the Production Management System at Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai operations and Ban Thouay.
  • Ensure that improvements are documented and consistent with the needs and structure of existing operating systems (PMS etc.)
  • Develop and deliver training materials to ensure that the capability of the PBM workforce is enhanced.
  • Support operations departments in the delivery of superior production outcomes through the delivery of targeted training and coaching as required.

 

To be successful in this role, you will require:

 

  • A positive approach and be driven to succeed delivering great outcomes to our teams and the business.
  • Bachelors or diploma degree in relevant discipline or qualification in Trade (mechanical, electrical, fitter etc), or Engineering, or Commerce or other relevant.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience (Technical or Operational Mining related skills)
  • Experience with Lean and Improvement Projects highly valued
  • Excellent communication skills Lao, Chinese and/or English Languages
  • Great knowledge of MS Office 365
  • Ability to work closely and productively with an ethnically and culturally diverse workforce. 
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver improvement projects within a department.
  • Proficient Lean Leader with demonstrated competence in the use of the PBM Lean toolkit.
  • Ability to deliver prepared training materials to employees and contractors.
