NTPC is currently looking for motivated and qualified candidates interested in the following position:

Position: Environmental Officer

Workplace: Sangkeo Village, Gnommalath District, Khammouane Province

Job Purpose: Oversee and promote sustainable practices with collective campaigns, fostering environmental consciousness, educate stakeholders on proper environmental practices as per NTPC policy by conducting trainings/workshops, and ensure compliance with national regulations and international standards. All the work performed should be in line with the reference NTPC Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan, relevant Work Instruction/Procedures, and ISO 14001 requirements. Furthermore, jointly responsible for environmental monitoring and site inspections (with other Environment Officers).   

Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead and conduct environmental induction sessions for new staff and contractors, as well as awareness workshops and sustainability campaigns for families and local communities.
• Organize environmental events (World Environment Day, Arbor Day, Big Cleaning Days, etc.).
• Develop communication materials for newsletters and social media to promote environmental initiatives.
• Monitor and evaluate campaign effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement.
• Participate in environmental compliance monitoring in industrial and non-industrial zones.
• Support QHSE processes for contractor projects (document review, site inspections, risk assessment (JHEA), incident investigation, RCFA).
• Ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
• Respond to environmental emergencies when required.
• Prepare work instructions and periodic reports (weekly, bi-annual, special reports).

Competency Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the environmental field.
• Knowledge of Lao Environmental Law and ISO 14001 requirements.
• Understanding of environmental monitoring systems and sustainability practices.
• Knowledge of energy-related national policies and local community context.
• Strong communication, analytical, and detail-oriented skills.
• English proficiency (B2) and Lao proficiency (C2).
