SOS Children’s Villages Laos is a Member Association (MA) of the SOS Children’s Villages International federation, which is one of the largest non-for-profit organization in the world dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people without parental care or at risk of losing it.  SOS Children’s Villages Laos has been active in the country for more than 30 years. Through its program interventions in 6 provinces, SOS Children’s Villages Laos provides family like care, protection, education and community-based programs to hundreds of children and youth.

Village Director

Mission

The Village Director ensures the implementation of the SOS Children’s Village Programme Policy and oversees the delivery of high-quality child development programmes in collaboration with SOS families. This role enables children to grow in a healthy and safe environment, complete their general education, and develop their talents and self-confidence for their future lives.

Purpose of the position

The Village Director leads the SOS Family-Like Care (FLC) programme and is responsible and accountable for the overall development of the SOS Children’s Village. The role involves guiding the village and its co-workers strategically in line with SOS Children’s Villages’ policies and values.

Location:   SOS Children’s Village Xiengkhouang, Phonsavanh village, Paek district, Xiengkhouang Province, Laos.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Ensures the overall development of the Family-Like Care (FLC) programme, including presiding over the Village Committee and Child Admission Committee, and working closely with the Youth Leader and representatives of SOS Mothers in daily operations.
• Guides and supports all co-workers, SOS Mothers, and youth care co-workers, including coordinating recruitment and orientation for village and youth facilities staff, providing regular feedback, conducting Performance Appraisal Talks (PATs), and encouraging co-workers to take responsibility for their work.
• Promotes strong and long-term partnerships with communities, external stakeholders, and local government authorities to mobilize support for young people.
• Coordinates planning and budgeting, as well as monitoring and evaluation processes for the FLC programme, and contributes to the development of the National Association (NA).
• Ensures the implementation and rollout of organizational policies and guidelines to all co-workers in the Children’s Village.
• Implements administrative systems that promote the efficient, transparent, and responsible use of financial resources and property.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports for submission to the National Office and the Provincial Department of Labor and Social Welfare.
• Carries out other tasks as requested or assigned by the direct supervisor (National Director) or the organization.

Person Specification

• Good understanding of Child Protection, Child Safeguarding and related laws, 
• Willing to travel as when required

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of work experience in human resources, including 2–3 years at a management level, in either corporate or non-profit organizations.
• Strong analytical skills with experience managing a workforce of approximately 10–30 staff members.
• The position is open to both women and men.
• Good physical and mental health.
• Willingness and readiness to live within an SOS Children’s Village.
• Strong interest in working with children and youth.
• Knowledge of the local language and culture.
