In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in the Lao-registered company, Phu Bia Mining. The Government of Laos owns the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.

The Geotechnical Laboratory Technician plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in ensuring the stability of rock structures like excavations, mines (both surface and underground), and foundations. They combine field and laboratory work, meticulously testing rock and soil samples. Additionally, they maintain laboratory equipment, workspace, and document control cabinets, ensuring proper inventory management according to standard laboratory procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conduct various laboratory tests on Uniaxial, Triaxial, indirect tensile and Rock direct shear tests.
• Participate soil direct shear and classification. 
• Prepare rock/weak zone samples for testing, including logging, labelling, and documentation.
• Enter and record test data into laboratory information management systems.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, performing routine cleaning and troubleshooting.
• Preparation of technical reports summarizing test results.
• Participate in quality control (QC) procedures to ensure the accuracy and consistency of test results.  
• Import experimental results into the laboratory database system.
• Using acQuire software.
• Generate, register, organize and deliver results of laboratory tests result with timely manner.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Basic English and computer skills are desirable
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Keen to work at site in a multi - cultural environment 
• Excellent inter-personal skills
