Forestry and Participatory Land Use Planning Advisor

The Climate Protection through Avoided Deforestation (CliPAD) Project, a part of the Lao-German Cooperation and commissioned by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and financially supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), is currently seeking one (1) qualified Laotian candidate for the position of Forestry and Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP) Advisor, based in Bokeo province starting as soon as possible until 31.12.2026.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical advice on project activities in relation to Participatory Land Use Planning (PLUP), Village Forest Management Planning (VFMP), National Protected Areas (NPA) and forest law enforcement.
- Ensure effective cooperation and dialogues with government partners and coordination closely with GIZ Advisors across all components.
- Coordinate project quarterly planning with Project Owners (POs).
- Formulate PLUP, VFMP and Annual Village Forest Operation Plan.
- Carry out capacity building and training measures at provincial, district and village level on PLUP, village forest management.
- Ensure the quality control of the field activities and the technical backstopping to all the project partners/POs.
- Oversee project planning including organizing and implementing field activities, training, monitoring and documentation.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry, environment, natural resources or other relevant fields.
- 3 years professional experience in a comparable position.
- Working knowledge of ITC technologies (Microsoft 365) and GIS.
- Ability to work in difficult situations/conditions with frequently field work and travel regularly.
- Language proficiency in English and Lao.
- Basic understanding on gender mainstreaming in the workplace.
- Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.
