This is an exciting time to join PanAust and our subsidiary company, Phu Bia Mining in Laos. Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and our Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation in Laos are both delivering strong production and cost performances and are targeted to reach peak production over the next few years. In addition, the PanAust Group is progressing well in its Stage 1 Feasibility Study of the newly acquired Frieda River Copper Project in PNG.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.
Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will play a key role in maintaining, refining, and implementing metallurgical strategies to optimise gold and copper processing at the Phu Kham Copper/Gold Concentrator. You will provide technical guidance, troubleshoot operational challenges, and lead improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance, recovery, and cost efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintain, modify and improve the metallurgical strategies for the Phu Kham Copper/Gold Concentrator with emphasis on facilitation and communication to operations.
- Provide technical guidance to the processing plant operations to ensure operating obstacles are overcome.
- Anticipate metallurgical issues that may affect the processing plant operations and advise on solutions to overcome them.
- Responsible for the short to medium term metallurgical issues associated with the operating plant, identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects.
- Supervises daily/special tasks in the process plant as assigned by the senior metallurgist or metallurgy superintendent.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or related field.
- Solid understanding of crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, and other mineral processing techniques.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Physical capability to handle and lift heavy equipment when required.
- Previous experience in a mineral processing or metallurgical plant environment is highly regarded.
