Company Overview
Global Digital Management Solutions (GDMS), founded in Singapore in 2019, is a fast-growing provider of sovereign cloud and infrastructure solutions tailored for sensitive sectors such as government, finance, and education. Our services include public and private cloud hosting, managed infrastructure, and secure datacenter operations in emerging markets.
As part of our expansion in Laos, we are looking for a Network & Security Engineer to help strengthen the reliability, performance, and security of our infrastructure and support our customer projects.
Role Summary
The Network & Security Engineer will support the design, deployment, and operation of secure and resilient network systems for GDMS’s cloud and datacenter environments. This hands-on role involves working with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and monitoring tools, with a strong focus on security best practices and infrastructure availability.
In addition to infrastructure responsibilities, you will act as the point of contact for information security matters and contribute to the implementation and enforcement of ISO 27001 controls. Working alongside our network and systems team and reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, you will help ensure both internal infrastructure and client environments meet our security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Network & Cloud Operations
- - Help build and manage network setups for cloud hosting environments
- - Configure and maintain switches, routers, and VPNs in shared and secure networks
- - Support customer connections (e.g. IPSec, GRE, VLANs) and links to backup sites (DR)
- - Keep network designs and configurations well-documented and up to date
Firewall & Security
- - Set up and manage Fortinet firewalls, including basic security rules
- - Apply network segmentation and user access controls
- - Monitor network activity and assist in identifying any suspicious behavior
- - Perform routine checks, simple vulnerability scans, and help with fixes
Monitoring & Support
- - Ensure smooth day-to-day running of the network and VPN services
- - Use tools like Zabbix or Wazuh to monitor uptime and system health
- - Help deploy services for clients and resolve network access issues
- - Keep records of configurations, updates, and troubleshooting steps
Security & Compliance Support
- - Review change requests to check for any security risks
- - Help apply security best practices across systems and services
- - Assist during security audits by preparing logs and documentation
- - Contribute to our ISO 27001 efforts (training provided)
- - Support the team in tracking risks and documenting security incidents
- - Share knowledge and promote good security habits across the team
Requirements
- - Diploma or Bachelor's degree in IT, Networking, or a related field
- - 2–3 years of experience working with network equipment and firewalls
- - Good understanding of IP networks, VLANs, basic routing (OSPF/BGP), NAT, and VPN setup
- - Experience with Fortinet, VyOS, Mikrotik, or Cisco is an advantage
- - Comfortable working with Linux and basic network tools like ping, traceroute, tcpdump, etc.
- - Awareness of IT security practices, including access control and basic system hardening
- - Able to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written)
- - Certifications (like Fortinet NSE or Cisco CCNA) are a plus but not required
