This is an exciting time to join PanAust and our subsidiary company, Phu Bia Mining in Laos. Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and our Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation in Laos are both delivering strong production and cost performances and are targeted to reach peak production over the next few years. In addition, the PanAust Group is progressing well in its Stage 1 Feasibility Study of the newly acquired Frieda River Copper Project in PNG

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.

The key objectives of Mechanical Engineer – Fixed Plant is to consolidate the Asset Management program at the Phu Kham Operations & Ban Houayxai Operations. To contribute to the Fixed Plant Maintenance function with sound engineering design and drafting skills to ensure the group meets the requirements of the business, as required by the Asset Management Superintendent.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Deliver high quality mechanical engineering design & drafting in an efficient & effective manner for all Asset Management Projects & work orders for both PKM & BHX.
  • Provide Designs, Calculations and Project planning of Asset Management Superintendent as per PBM Standard
  • Review and continuously look to improve the productivity & maintainability of all critical equipment.
  • Be a team member working to ensure Fixed Plant Assets is in good condition, safe to operate and easy to maintain with quality inspection and up to date with transparent predictions/forecasts in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of work scope, proposals, bill of quantities & and technical specifications on the assigned project by the Asset Management Superintendent.
  • To lead or track any assigned projects from inception to commissioning.
  • To support FPM Maintenance Planning Execution work orders Routine & Shutdown Design, Fabrication & Installation
  • Provide expert advice to the maintenance supervisors and superintendent as required.

 

To be successful in this role, you will require:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, and project planning—preferably in mining, heavy industry, or plant maintenance environments.
  • Experience with Fixed Plant equipment is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design and drafting standards.
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD or similar drafting software in 3D.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken, is required for technical documentation and communication.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
