This is an exciting time to join PanAust and our subsidiary company, Phu Bia Mining in Laos. Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and our Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation in Laos are both delivering strong production and cost performances and are targeted to reach peak production over the next few years. In addition, the PanAust Group is progressing well in its Stage 1 Feasibility Study of the newly acquired Frieda River Copper Project in PNG.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for playing a role in the planning, implementation, execution and services includes material movement schedules, equipment utilisation and production performance analysis, design compliance monitoring drill and blasting activities related to the TSF construction and Tactical Projects at PKM and BHX. This must be performed using the procedures and standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Actively support the TSF Construction activities for both PKM and BHX.
Perform weekly, monthly project planning, scheduling and design compliance monitoring and reporting.
Develop guidelines and sign off for drill and blast in the Stage 3 stepped spillway.
Lead with TSF blast pattern design, monitoring blast implementation compliance and measure drill and blast performance as required.
Maintain a close link with the TSF Construction Team as end user of the Project to ensure schedules, designs and plans are aligned.
Actively look for efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities in the project works.
Create internal design for Borrow pits, internal ramp and daily request design by SURPAC or CAD drawings for Technical Queries for Tactical Projects and TSF Construction up on request.
Monitor the Project Operations Teams’ adherence to Project schedules and designs.
Have a proactive approach to health and safety whilst working within company standards and policies.
Develop junior engineers by enrolling them in courses relevant to day to day work, introduce them to software that is practical to their role
To be successful in this role, you will require:
Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or related field
At least 5 years extensive experience in a leadership and engineering role in large organization
Experience in dealing with multiple working groups and stakeholders and coordinating activities on multiple work fronts
Previous experience in supervising and leading a multi-cultural team
Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Lao language
Proven experience in proactive safety
Competency in Microsoft Office suite and work related software
