Production Geologist

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Reporting to the Senior Production Geologists, the Production Geologist is responsible for ensuring that ore block designs are accurate and minimise any potential dilution. This is critical to maximising recovery of Sepon ore reserves. This position will also provide field supervision of digging practices to ensure ore blocks are dug efficiently and to plan. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Liaise with the Planning Engineers to ascertain and prioritise work areas requiring ore blocks.
• Create high quality ore domains based on mapping and drilling information.
• Create and release accurate and efficiently designed ore blocks without causing delays to mine operations.
• Report ore blocking efficiency factors on a monthly basis.
• Create daily reports on time.
• Design new drill programs to ensure sufficient data is available to inform the grade control block model.
• Assist to compile a monthly grade control report.
• Create and report Rom block model tonnes and grades.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Diploma’s degree in geology, or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in grade control drilling & some experience in a production setting preferable (e.g. Ore Spotting, Open Pit mapping, etc.)
• Good command of English (both verbal and written).
• Experience across multiple mine sites and various commodities and operational environments is highly regarded.
• Proficiency in geological software packages, including but not limited to Vulcan, Leapfrog, BMM Explorer.
• Proficiency in managing and maintaining databases, including data entry and data integrity. Experience with database software and tools, such as Acquire, GeoBank SQL, or Microsoft Access, is preferable. 
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
