Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and our Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation in Laos are both delivering strong production and cost performances and are targeted to reach peak production over the next few years. In addition, the PanAust Group is progressing well in its Stage 1 Feasibility Study of the newly acquired Frieda River Copper Project in PNG

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.
Reporting to the PBM Drill and Blast Superintendent, you will focus on the safe and productive mining operation utilizing owner mine fleet. The supervisor is also required to assist in the on the job training of Lao team leaders and machinery operators. The position will also have input into the short term Mine Schedules (weekly plan) and actively participate in planning activities in conjunction with mine planning engineer and geologists. The position is responsible for the effective supervision and cost control of the various mobile equipment on site. The Mine Supervisor will be responsible for implementing and supervising all work associated with open pit drill, blast, load and haul operations. This will include open pits, haul roads, waste dump development ensure safe and productive performance to achieve production targets.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Effective management of Drill and Blast activities in the BHX project and outside the mining area in accordance with PBM safety, quality and environmental policies and standard procedures.
- Ensure Drill & Blast and associated operations comply with all relevant statutory, corporate and site standards.
- Supervise and Management of Drilling and Blast operation progress and personnel to meet production requirements.
- Help to ensure Drill and Blast activities are achieve the required Mining specification requirements within the required work schedules and budget.
- Manage, develop work schedules and ensure works are properly documented and reported on a periodic basis as required.
- Work effectively with Mobile Maintenance, Mine Planning, environmental and consultancy personnel on a regular basis.
- Effective management of PBM drilling machines and contractor and for best use of company resources.
- Assist in other mining operational activities and earthwork areas if deem required.
- Development and training of Drill and Blast Team, especially (Lao Drill and Blast Team Leader, QAQC) to be competent in Safety, Productivity and effective supervision.
- Provide technical expertise and liaison with explosives supplier to resolve product quality issues and sufficient stock of Initiating Explosives, bulk explosives, raw materials etc. On site.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Drilling and Blasting, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience in drill and blast operations.
- Experience in QA/QC of drilling and blasting, including data collection and reporting.
- At least 2 - 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience in a mining environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with blast design and analysis software, knowledge of Surpac and fragmentation analysis tools is highly desirable.
- Good command of English both spoken and written.
- Valid Class B Driving License or equivalent.
- Strong leadership, team management, and time management skills.
