PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold producer in Laos, with pre-development and exploration assets in Laos, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea (PNG). The Company is focused on a sustainable business model associated with the production and sale of copper and gold, delivery of production goals and growth.
In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in the Lao-registered company, Phu Bia Mining. The Government of Laos owns the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.
Reports to the Metallurgical Laboratory Team Leader, the Metallurgical Technician – Level 2 is responsible for supporting laboratory operations by conducting routine metallurgical testing, data analysis, and assisting with process optimization activities. This role ensures that laboratory work complies with all safety and quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Health, Safety & Environment
- Adhere to and promote occupational health, safety, security, and environmental standards.
- Actively participate in safety programs including JSO’s, WPI’s, Hazard ID’s, audits, and meetings.
- Review and improve safe operating procedures for laboratory tasks.
People & Development
- Engage in professional development and maintain required training competencies.
- Provide support or leadership when needed in line with operational requirements.
Productivity
- Conduct routine laboratory tests and specialized test work to support plant operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording, processing, and reporting of metallurgical data.
- Monitor laboratory equipment and ensure proper maintenance and availability.
- Assist with plant surveys, shutdowns, and inspections as required.
Business Improvement & Cost Efficiency
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Laboratory Science, or Mining Engineering; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply
- A minimum of two years’ experience in mineral processing or laboratory work is considered an advantage
- Strong communication skills in both Lao and English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Physically fit with the ability to safely handle laboratory equipment
