The Government of Lao PDR and the Asian Development Bank are preparing a loan/grant toward the cost of GMS - Border Areas Health Project. The executing agency for the Project is the Ministry of Health through the Department of Planning and Finance.

Border areas of the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) in the Lao PDR are host to some of the country’s most vulnerable population groups, including migrants. Border area populations routinely perform worse on key health outcomes, in part because of a lack of access to quality health services. The proposed project will improve access to quality health services for people residing in and passing through the Lao PDR border provinces of Champasak, Phongsali, and Savannakhet.
