Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.


Reporting to the Electronics & Communications Technician, The Radar Technician is responsible for playing a role in proceeding mining by the safe operation of radars and other monitoring systems across both PBM mine sites timely commissioning and decommissioning of radars, facilitating and acting as a point of contact for OEM external (vender), supporting senior radar technician to install and integrate Radar system, work with IT, geotechnical staff, and communication technicians (Jigsaw) and liaise with vendors companies to troubleshoot radar, Extensometer and prism communication issues- under the guidance of IDS vendor or radar technician specialist.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Safe radar operation across both sites
  • Timely commissioning and decommissioning of radars as required.
  • Facilitate and act as a point of contact for OEM external (vendor) support working together with Radar Technician
  • High availability of radars
  • Ensure critical parts for radar systems are stocked on-site in accordance with support plan packages.
  • Work together with senior radar technician to install and integrate Slope Stability Radar systems (IDS FM, Rover and ArcSAR) units with the existing IT server.
  • Work together with radar technician and geotechnical team to help understand slope stability monitoring data.
  • Work with IT, geotechnical staff, and communication technicians (Jigsaw) and liaise with vendors companies to troubleshoot radar, Extensometer, and prism communication issues- under the guidance of IDS vendor or radar technician specialist.


To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Bachelor’s or diploma degree in relevant discipline (radio communications, electronic or any monitoring systems)
  • Working relevant experience in Communications, Mining, Geotechnical, Geology or Engineering
  • Slop Stability Radar knowledge would be advantage.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office function would be preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills both in Lao and English Languages
  • Excellent inter-personnel skills
