This is an exciting time to join PanAust, and our subsidiary company, Phu Bia Mining in Laos. Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation are both delivering strong production and cost performance. In addition, PanAust holds an 80 per cent interest in the Frieda River Copper-Gold project in Papua New Guinea, one of the largest known undeveloped copper and gold deposits in the world, which will become a long-life open-pit operation. The strategic direction of the Company is to maximize returns from its producing assets while advancing pre-development projects that offer potential to sustain and grow the business in the long term.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.

This position is based at Vientiane Office Government Relations Department. Reporting to the Government Relations Manager, you will play a key role of translating or interpreting service in Chinese-Lao-English, communication and coordinating between PBM Chinese staff and external stakeholders, principally the government of Laos.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide an accurate and timely translation and interpreting service in Chinese-Lao-English that facilitates dialogue between PBM Chinese staff and its external stakeholders, principally the Government of Laos
  • Uphold strict confidentiality, in particular when dealing with sensitive material
  • Assist with the implementation of communications strategies that ensure the good public and corporate reputation of PBM
  • Provide an in-house interpreting and translation service
  • Assist the communications team promote PBM’s good corporate reputation
  • Translate incoming and outgoing correspondence in a timely and accurate manner (Chinese-English-Lao)
  • Interpret accurately and appropriately (consecutive interpreting) (Chinese-English-Lao)
  • Translate external and internal meeting with government of Laos (Chinese-English-Lao)
  • Translate minute meeting (Chinese-English-Lao)
  • Any translation of letters requires by supervisor
  • Assist communication team in other communication works (Chinese-English-Lao)

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Degree of Arts, Business Administration and Finance or other relevant qualification
  • Must have previous working experience in translation or interpretation
  • Advanced communication skills in Lao, English and Chinese Languages
  • Excellent interpersonal or teamwork skills
