In Laos, the Lao Brewery Company Limited includes three factories such as Vientiane Brewery, Pepsi and Pakse Plants and the products are distributed all over the country as well as abroad. Training and Development of our Lao National employees is provided individual and group of both in-house and external training. Marketing team of Lao Brewery Company is now seeking to hire an Innovation & New Product Development Manager to join their team in Vientiane Capital, Laos.

Position: Innovation & New Product Development Manager

Location: Vientiane Capital

Contract type: Full-time, Permanent

Main responsibilities:

An incumbent will report directly to the Marketing Director, and will be responsible for, but not limited, to the below:

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of market size and market growth potential for LBC’s currently market products & future products.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive intelligence and market landscape analyses to identify competitive strengths and weakness and market opportunities and threats
  • Create and maintain a robust portfolio of product enhancements in various stages of evaluation and development
  • Appropriately scope market dynamics and size market opportunity for new product enhancements
  • Rigorously screen and test product enhancement concepts through Stage Gate to determine which should move on toward development
  • Conduct rigorous ‘voice of consumer’ research to test and refine product enhancement ideas with consumers; hone in on value proposition, features, pricing, and go-to-market strategy 
  • Conduct operational feasibility testing on product enhancements, as needed, and recommend go-forward plans where gaps exist
  • Create financial models to determine market opportunity for product enhancements, and financial forecasts to determine likely sales in years 1-3 of launch (RFA Process)
  • Utilize outside resources to find new sources of ideas, technical innovation solutions, and obtain new innovation tools and best practices


To be considered of this role, you must have

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in any of the following courses: business management, finance, communication, marketing and other related fields.
  • Fluent in Lao. Excellent in English
  • Experience within brand/marketing management (min 7 years) in an operating company environment in FMCG industry (experience in beverage industry is an advantage)
  • Cross functional exposure will be favourable (e.g. trade marketing, sales, finance, supply chain). Experience with new product development, market analysis, and innovation is most important
  • High level of proficiency in Ms Offices (Ms word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Project)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, project management and negotiation skills. Good analytical and research skills

Lao Brewery Co., Ltd. was founded in 1973 as a joint-venture between foreign investors and Lao businessmen originally under the registered name of Lao Beer and Ice Factory. At that time, the company had an annual production capacity of 3 million litres of beer, 1.5 million litres of carbonated drinks and a daily production capacity of 120 tonnes of ice. After National Liberation in December 1975, the Lao Government took over the foreigners’ shares and followed by the voluntarily handing over of shares from the Lao businessmen to the State. In 1993, Loxley Public Co., Ltd and Italian-Thai Public Co., Ltd invested in Lao Brewery Co., Ltd which enabled the increase on both its production capacity and marketing potential. In 2002, there was a change in the foreign joint venture partners as the new partners involved were the Lao Government (50%), Carlsberg Asia Co. Ltd. (25%) and the TCC International Co. Ltd. (25%). In 2005 there was another change in ownership with the Lao government holding a 50% stake and Carlsberg Breweries also holding a 50% share. On May 24th 2008, Lao Brewery Co., Ltd officially opened its second factory in Chapasak province with the honorable presence of H.E Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Deputy Prime Minister, and Standing member of the Government. This plant composes of a full managerial and technological system. The factory’s production’s line is fully in command of computerized systems and innovative machines generating its annual production capacity of 50 million litters and could be extended to 200 million litters. In addition, carbonated and soft drinks affiliated to Pepsi Inc. are also produced here.
