Plan is implementing the SUSTOUR Laos project financed by EU SWITCH-Asia and implemented through a partnership between The European Centre for Ecological and Agricultural Tourism (ECEAT), The Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI) and Plan International, with Plan Germany as the contract holder with the EU. The project will operate in three provinces: Vientiane Capital, Vientiane Province and Luang Prabang. The project is designed to promote sustainable consumption and production (SCP) and integration of Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) within the Lao tourism supply chain. The project will support Lao tourism businesses and their supply chains obtain to adhere to sustainability certification standards (Travelife) and practices as promoted by ECEAT. The project will seek to develop partnerships with Lao tourism businesses including hotels, travel agents, destination management companies, and tour operators. Through these partnerships the project will utilize a business-led approach to promote sustainable practices, integrate MSMEs into supply chains, support local communities involved in tourism, develop eco-friendly solutions and create positive and lasting change for the Lao tourism industry.
Currently we work in Bokeo, Oudomxay, Saravan, Vientiane and Luang Prabang Provinces, in youth economic empowerment, basic education, early childhood development, health and nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene, and adolescence. Project Coordinator (Lao National Only), Vientiane Capital
Responsibilities will include:
The Project Coordinator will be required to travel to Vientiane Province and Luang Prabang Province up to 30% of their time. Irregular international travel to represent the project in regional forums and events will also be required (depending on COVID-19 travel restrictions).
