PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold producer in Laos, with pre-development and exploration assets in Laos, Myanmar and Papua New Guinea (PNG). The Company is focused on a sustainable business model associated with the production and sale of copper and gold, delivery of production goals and growth.

In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in the Lao-registered company, Phu Bia Mining. The Government of Laos owns the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation.

Our modern mine camps provide great Lao, Asian and Western food, sport and recreational facilities and housekeeping services. Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.

Reporting to the Project Control Superintendent, the key objective of Senior Planner is to provide direct support to the IRM Department delivering the annual program of both infrastructure and road maintenance and Project Planning and Scheduling services to project teams located within the Phu Kham, Ban Houxai mines & associated roads, and other locations as required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that approved Project Planning and Scheduling principles and methodologies are applied and implemented
  • Developing, maintaining and tracking the annual maintenance program of both infrastructure and road
  • Developing, maintaining and tracking master project schedules in MS Project or Oracle Primavera P6 and associated breakdown structures, including the development and application of planning best practice to ensure consistency in schedule definition and development, and delivery of integrated portfolio, program and project plans
  • Responsible for the preparation, planning and assessment of detailed project plans for all stages of the project and annual maintenance program of both infrastructure and road
  • Prepare regular status reports/dashboard for the annual maintenance program of both infrastructure and road
  • Working closely and communicating effectively with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all parties are kept informed on all relevant matters impacting and influencing projects
  • Participating and providing support to staff involved in project or integrated scheduling related reviews (e.g. Integrated Baseline Reviews (IBRs), subcontractor validations and internal/external quality audits
  • Provide cost and estimating support to project team and maintenance team
  • Monitor and update project schedules, milestones and overall completion timetables
  • Analyse and review impact of cost and schedule changes and report any deviations or overruns

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or Relevant Experience
  • 5 years’ experience in construction project’s planning and management
  • Skills in MS Project and SAP and Primavera P6 skills is desirable
  • Proven ability to successfully design and deliver complex improvement projects
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a range of key internal stakeholders
  • Good in communication skills for both English and Lao
  • Proficient in planning and prioritizing work
  • Ability to work well within a busy, fast paced environment
  • Competency in Microsoft office, with exposure to a maintenance management system preferable
