Senior Microfinance Officer

THIS POSITION IS AVAILABLE TO LAO NATIONALS ONLY.
This is an exciting time to join PanAust and our subsidiary company, Phu Bia Mining in Laos. Our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation and our Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operation in Laos are both delivering strong production and cost performances and are targeted to reach peak production over the next few years. In addition, the PanAust Group is progressing well in its Stage 1 Feasibility Study of the newly acquired Frieda River Copper Project in PNG.

Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.
Reporting to the Community Development Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of microfinance
projects aimed at supporting the development of small business in the communities surrounding Phu Kham and Ban Houay Xai.

This will require you to liaise regularly with district, local village’s officials, local communities and individual stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that current and future microfinance projects in the target communities implemented in line with guide, procedure and strategy of PBM
  • To communicate and coordinate with stakeholders for developing the micro-finance in the target communities
  • Regularly monitoring and reviewing the saving and loan in the target communities and report on findings for improvement
  • Providing technical support to the Village Savings and Credit Fund management committee members
  • Researching and identifying further small business development opportunities for sustainability fund management
  • Assisting the company in maintaining positive relations within communities and other tasks assigned by supervisors and managers

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A relevant degree in accounting and banking or community development
  • Minimum 3 years experiences in community development or business development is desirable
  • Previous experience in micro-finance or VDFs with an NGO and/or company is desirable
  • Good verbal and written English and Lao skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to handle with multiple stakeholders
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
  • Current B class driving license
